WAWZ Collects A Ton Of Food, Literally

PILLAR OF FIRE Christian AC WAWZ (STAR 99.1)/NEW YORK launched the
"Be A Hero" canned food drive in JULY in response to area food banks' need. Listeners dropped off food donations at all station events and at select van stops during the morning show. Listeners received a CD courtesy of PROVIDENT LABEL GROUP in exchange for a bag of groceries.
Morning show funny guy from "JOHNNY STONE in the Morning" DAVID A. DEIN and a station intern dressed as the GOOD GOLLY GREEN GIANT and CELERY SPROUT to meet listeners and to receive donations of food. In just over three weeks, roughly one ton of food has been collected.Station Manager SCOTT TAYLOR wanted to raise the bar and threw out a challenge to listeners. "If you can raise 500 pounds of food at one stop this coming THURSDAY, then I will go out dressed as the CELERY SPROUT for next van stop in either in NEW YORK or NEW JERSEY."
To help reach this goal of 500 pounds of food at one stop, WAWZ is asking listeners can drop off donations between 7a and 9a (ET) on THURSDAY, AUGUST 14th at 724 Route 202, BRIDGEWATER, NJ . The canned food drive will conclude on AUGUST 30th and all donations will be received at all station events and at select van stops.
