SAGA/CAYUGA RADIO GROUP Talk WHCU-A/ITHACA adds PREMIERE's GLENN BECK for 9a-noon, starting SEPTEMBER 2nd. The station's "MORNING NEWSWATCH" with DAVE VIESER and GEOFF DUNN, presently 5:30-10a, will drop its last hour to make room for BECK. BECK replaces WESTWOOD ONE's DENNIS MILLER, who has been airing 10a-noon on WHCU. "It’s the perfect lead-in for RUSH LIMBAUGH," said PD DUNN of BECK's show.
VIESER, talking about the shortening of his and DUNN's show, noted, "We’re seeing our audience shifting their listening time earlier, with more and more people with us when the show begins at 5:30a and, frankly, most of them are at work by 9a." He says the time change will give him more opportunity to focus on production and imaging as APD for both WHCU and sister Talk WNYY-A (PROGRESSIVE TALK 1470), adding, "Who wants to really hear me chew the fat for more than 3½ hours?"
In addition, WHCU is looking for an experienced news anchor/reporter as an Asst. News Dir. to fill the slot left open by GREG FRY's move to WGY-A/ALBANY. The job generally runs 10a-6p, anchoring newscasts on all five of the cluster's stations, helping craft assignments, working on future planning, and guiding other anchors and reporters on stories and news selection. The Asst. News Dir. will also fill in for the News Dir. in his absence. The full-time post offers great benefits and opportunities for advancement. It will be considered a bonus if an applicant has worked in NEW YORK STATE. Rush resumes, on-air audio and writing samples to email@example.com or News Director, 1751 Hanshaw Rd., ITHACA, NY 14850.
