Astral Closes TATV Classified Division

ASTRAL MEDIA RADIO has closed its QUEBEC online and TV classified ad company TATV (formerly TELE-ANNONCES). The move cuts 28 full-time and 10 part-time jobs.
"The decision to shut down TATV was very difficult for us to make," said ASTRAL MEDIA RADIO QUEBEC VP/Sales and Marketing PIERRE RODRIGUE. "We evaluated several different possible strategies before reaching this decision. However, the growing market share of classified ads using the free Internet model, coupled with the fact that classified ads are not one of our company's core businesses, forced us to close the division.
"We thank the employees of TATV for their many years of dedication. Meetings are being held to inform the people affected by this situation and we are making every effort to help our employees make the transition to other employment."
