AIR AMERICA RADIO is buying carbon offsets for its operations at the two political conventions in an attempt to be "carbon neutral" while broadcasting from DENVER and ST. PAUL. The network is buying the offsets through a partnership with NATIVEENERGY as part of the CASCADE SIERRA SOLUTION TRUCK EFFICIENCY PROJECT.
"AIR AMERICA has taken an important step in being environmentally responsible in reducing its carbon footprint with their decision to operate carbon neutral during the DNC and RNC," said AIR AMERICA host ROBERT F. KENNEDY, JR. "By offsetting the CO2 pollution created over the course of these two weeks, they’re taking a stand against the global climate crisis, and encouraging all listeners, viewers and readers to reduce their everyday emissions."
"As part of the 2008 DNC’s commitment to be the most environmentally-sustainable Democratic Convention in history, we felt strongly about participating in this initiative to reduce the global warming impact of the DNC from our remote operations and home base in NEW YORK," added Chairman CHARLIE KIREKER. "In supporting NATIVEENERGY's quest for new community-based clean energy projects, we’re demonstrating how easy it can be for companies to reduce our individual impacts on the environment."
