RENDA Classic Hits KOMA/OKLAHOMA CITY morning host DANNY WILLIAMS will retire FRIDAY, closing out a 61-year radio and TV career. The OKLAHOMAN reports that the 81-year-old local mainstay is moving up his planned retirement from the end of the year due to bouts of vertigo.
WILLIAMS was a fixture on local TV in the '50s through the '80s on WKY-TV (now KFOR-TV)/OKLAHOMA CITY, and also served as morning host and PD at WKY-A. WILLIAMS' co-host LISA SYKES will take over the show after WILLIAMS' exit.
WILLIAMS, who joined KOMA in 1992 after being out of broadcasting, told the paper, "I've got a heckuva track record. But it's not me, it's just luck. The Lord has blessed me, because I don't even know what I'm doing."
