Canadian Private Radio Revenues, Profit Margins Up For 2007

STATISTICS CANADA's latest report on private commercial radio finances in CANADA showed total ad revenues up 6% overall to C$1.39 billion in 2007. AM stations rose 2.1% to C$313.7 million and FM stations saw a 7.1% increase to C$1.076 billion. Profit margins before interest and taxes rose from 19.8% to 20%, with AM stations up from 4.9% to 5.5% and FM stations up 24%-24.2%. FM generated 78.3% of ad revenues and 94.6% of profits before interest and taxes in 2007.
The agency credited economic growth and industry restructuring, specifically increased ownership concentration, for the growth.
