Former SNE BROADCASTING Talk WSAR-A/FALL RIVER, MA PD and host KERI RODRIGUES has not, as previously announced, joined the BRISTOL COUNTY District Attorney's office as Assistant to the Director of Community Affairs CECELIA PORCHE. The FALL RIVER HERALD NEWS reports that RODRIGUES, who was to start her new job AUGUST 25th, did not show up for work MONDAY morning.
She told the paper's JAY PATEAKOS that a hostile work environment at WSAR forced her to leave the station and also to not take the new job, citing alleged verbal abuse and intimidation by WSAR host MICHAEL HERREN and recent incidents of tire-slashing and voicemail threats.
RODRIGUES says that she has left the area and is unlikely to return. "It’s unfortunate that I have to leave behind a career I have loved since I was six years old, something I have known all my life and all I have every wanted to do," she said. "They have taken that from me; they have shattered it. It’s something that’s just in my DNA and obviously something I am very emotional about. I’m just a broadcaster, and I just wanted to have a talk show on the radio."
HERREN told the paper that he would submit to a polygraph test if necessary and, "It’s unfortunate that anyone can make allegations, and it doesn’t mean that they are true. KERI had more than her share of problems with people at the radio station ... It’s unfortunate that on her way out the door that she would try and tarnish the credibility of the people who own and work at WSAR."
