FCC Renews PA Noncomm License, Rejects Programming Complaint

The FCC has renewed the license of KING'S COLLEGE noncommercial WRKC/WILKES-BARRE, PA over the objections of MARIO FIORUCCI and RICHARD ASTON, who complained that the station's GM SUE HENRY was "censoring" the station's content by dropping three syndicated shows because they were too liberal. HENRY responded by noting that the shows air on another station in the market and that the shows were inconsistent with the school's mission as a private Catholic institution. The Commission noted that it does not get involved in stations' programming decisions.
The Commission also granted ITHACA COMMUNITY COLLEGE's application for a new noncommercial FM at WATKINS GLEN, NY, over the objection of ITHACA COLLEGE, which claimed that the new station would interfere with its first-adjacent-channel WICB/ITHACA.
