After more than 50 years, 52 to be exact, industry veteran BARRY FREEMAN is retiring. Early in 1956, FREEMAN started promoting records for his dad’s boss, singer DINAH SHORE. On SEPTEMBER 1st that year, FREEMAN signed on to CORAL RECORDS as a local promo rep in LOS ANGELES, exactly 52 years ago. BARRY has decided to commemorate this anniversary with his retirement.
FREEMAN’s illustrious music-industry career led to stops at UNITED ARTISTS, DECCA, KAPP, MGM, CAPITOL, ATLANTIC, WESTWOOD ONE and others. For the past 12 years BARRY was at ABC RADIO NETWORKS producing interview tours for country and pop labels and artists.
“The last three years, which I spent producing interview tours with my partner SHARLA McCOY, have been some of the most productive and successful of my career,” says FREEMAN. “So I’d like to say a big thank you to all of the labels, artists and most especially to SHARLA for allowing me this opportunity to truly go out on top.”
