Indecency On Supreme Court Docket
October 7, 2008 at 5:36 AM (PT)
The SUPREME COURT session that began yesterday -- the first MONDAY in OCTOBER -- will include the FCC's appeal of the "fleeting expletives" indecency ruling. Oral arguments in the case have been scheduled for ELECTION DAY, NOVEMBER 4th.
The case arose from FOX television's broadcasts of the BILLBOARD MUSIC AWARDS in two consecutive years, with CHER and NICOLE RICHIE blurting "f-bombs" (and RICHIE adding an "s-bomb"). The case, FCC v. FOX TELEVISION STATIONS, is one of the higher-profile cases to be decided in this SUPREME COURT term.
