Retired Editor Takes WBT's Katz To Task For 'Devilizing' Obama

Retired newspaperman WALKER LUNDY wrote an op-ed column for TODAY's CHARLOTTE OBSERVER ripping GREATER MEDIA Talk WBT-A-F/CHARLOTTE afternoon host JEFF KATZ -- whose name LUNDY does not mention -- for devoting his show "to the single cause of devilizing" Democratic presidential candidate Sen. BARACK OBAMA (D-IL).
LUNDY, the former editor of the PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER as well as the OBSERVER, admits that he "tend(s) to lean left, but I enjoy listening to RUSH LIMBAUGH and WBT's local fellow in the afternoon (KATZ)," but objects to what he calls "unrelenting hate-OBAMA sermons" on KATZ' show. Wondering why WBT does not carry any liberal hosts in its daytime lineup, LUNDY called GM RICK JACKSON, who told him the station tried doing that in the 1990s and "listeners and advertisers bailed."
