Haggard, Biddy To Be Honored By CRB

Country legend MERLE HAGGARD and music industry veteran SHEILA SHIPLEY BIDDY will be honored by the CRB (COUNTRY RADIO BROADCASTERS) at the COUNTRY MUSIC DJ AND RADIO HALL OF FAME DINNER AND AWARDS CEREMONY, to be held on TUESDAY, MARCH 3rd, 2009 at the CONVENTION CENTER in NASHVILLE. HAGGARD will receive the Career Achievement Award, while SHIPLEY BIDDY will be presented with the President's Award.
The COUNTRY RADIO BROADCASTER’s Career Achievement Award is presented to an individual artist or act that, through their creativity, vision, performance or leadership has made a significant contribution to the development and promotion of Country music and Country radio. MERLE HAGGARD first became a star in 1966 with 3 Top-10 hits that year, including "Swinging Doors," "The Bottle Let Me Down" and "The Fugitive." The next year he began a string of 37 straight Top-10 hits and 23 No. 1 songs. His most recent effort, the critically acclaimed “The Bluegrass Sessions,” was released in late 2007.
"The President's Award is presented to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the marketing, production, growth and development of the CRS and the multiple services that Country Radio Broadcasters provides to the Country radio and music communities.” BIDDY is the current President of STRINGTOWN RECORDS and previously spent many years at MCA and then DECCA. She also did a stint at VIVATON RECORDS.
