ROCKET SCIENCE has joined forces with CONTRABAND MUSIC GROUP. As of DECEMBER 1st, the companies will fully integrate with the CONTRABAND team operating under the new name ROCKET SCIENCE PROMOTION. According to CONTRABAND GM/co-founder KIM LANGBECKER, the union is "an opportunity to come together under ROCKET SCIENCE as a full-service virtual label experience. Anyone who comes to us with an act -- whether it’s a singer-songwriter, band or whatever -- they can literally get every single service under one roof."
"ROCKET SCIENCE has added several services over the last couple years, which were intended to supplement our core sales, marketing and digital services," notes RS owner/founder KEVIN DAY. "I really believe the future of the music business lies with services, and the ability to provide the client with almost an a la carte solution for their project needs."
The union includes what DAY calls, "big names in the business," that will be running the new entity along with LANGBECKER. BOB CATANIA (formerly VP/Promotion at ISLAND and SVP of GEFFEN promotion) and JEFFREY NAUMANN (ex-VP/Promotion at VIRGIN and Dir./National Promotion at EMI). The field staff for the integrated promotion division consists of 6 regional staffers reporting to NAUMANN and CATANIA.
"Our immediate goals are to solidify our presence at the rock and alternative formats for radio," DAY explains, "and with BOB CATANIA on board, we are able to further diversify our radio promotion presence throughout additional formats."
