Chicago Tribune Foundation Awards Journalism Grants

The CHICAGO TRIBUNE FOUNDATION has announced the awarding of $117,000 in civic and journalism grants on NOVEMBER 26. "We are proud to support these organizations that work to expand the training of journalists and to continue our support of diverse voices in the newsroom," said CHICAGO TRIBUNE MEDIA GROUP Director of Communications and Community Relations JANET DOBBS, a foundation board member.
Grants totaling $87,000 were approved for the following journalism organizations:

ASIAN AMERICAN JOURNALISTS ASSOCIATION
COMMUNITY RENEWAL SOCIETY
ILLINOIS FIRST AMENDMENT CENTER
INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S MEDIA FOUNDATION
LINK MEDIA, INC.
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF BLACK JOURNALISTS
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF HISPANIC JOURNALISTS
NATIONAL LESBIAN & GAY JOURNALISTS ASSOCIATION
NATIVE AMERICAN JOURNALISTS ASSOCIATION
UNIVERSITY OF RHODE ISLAND FOUNDATION (METCALF)
UNIVERSITY SYSTEM OF MARYLAND FOUNDATION (JOURNALISM CENTER ON CHILDREN & FAMILIES)
Two civic grants totaling $30,000 were handed out to THE CITY-WIDE TAX ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (TAP) for its financial literacy program at CHICAGO PUBLIC SCHOOLS and the CHICAGO COMMUNITY TRUST for its NUESTRO FUTURO endowment fund for Latino nonprofits in the CHICAGOLAND area.
