Veteran sportscaster and longtime former SEATTLE SUPERSONICS play-by-play voice KEVIN CALABRO is joining BONNEVILLE's new Sports KIRO-A (710 ESPN)/SEATTLE, to be launched on the 710 AM frequency being vacated by the now-on-FM Talk KIRO this Spring.
CALABRO, who was the SONICS' voice for 21 years before the team moved for this season to OKLAHOMA CITY, stayed in SEATTLE and will also be the voice of the city's MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER expansion franchise, the SEATTLE SOUNDERS. CALABRO's exact duties and other details of the station's programming are yet to be disclosed. KIRO has been simulcasting on AM and FM (the former KBSG) with the plan to flip the AM to Sports in 2009.
