Report: WRKO's Finneran Seeks Presidential Pardon
January 9, 2009 at 5:36 AM (PT)
ENTERCOM Talk WRKO-A/BOSTON morning host TOM FINNERAN is taking a shot at getting President BUSH to issue him a pardon for his 2007 conviction for obstruction of justice, reports the BOSTON GLOBE.
The paper reports that FINNERAN applied for the pardon last month, with four former MASSACHUSETTS governors, including MICHAEL DUKAKIS, WILLIAM WELD, PAUL CELLUCCI, and JANE SWIFT, attesting to FINNERAN's integrity and saying that FINNERAN had already been "severely punished" with the loss of his job and law license. A last-minute pardon from BUSH would require a waiver of the rule requiring five years or more having elapsed from the time of conviction for any pardon.
FINNERAN pleaded guilty in a plea bargain in JANUARY 2007 dealing with his testimony in a federal civil lawsuit that he had nothing to do with drawing up a redistricting map.
