Madison's Mic Makes Changes, Some Listeners Not Pleased
January 13, 2009 at 5:12 AM (PT)
A programming change at CLEAR CHANNEL liberal Talk WXXM (THE MIC 92.1)/MADISON has some listeners seeing red and calling a rally to protest the change.
The station has dropped AIR AMERICA RADIO's THOM HARTMANN show from the 2-5p CT slot and replaced it with syndicated financial talker DAVE RAMSEY; the CAPITAL TIMES reports that morning host LEE RAYBURN has also exited, abruptly leaving the station and posting a FACEBOOK status update reading "LEE RAYBURN has quit his job." On the station's website, PD BRIAN TURANY says that RAYBURN "has chosen to pursue interests outside of radio and THE MIC 92.1. I and everyone else involved in sales, administration, and engineering at the station wish him the best of luck." The station is airing AAR's RON KUBY on tape in mornings this week and will unveil a new lineup next week.
A "FRIENDS OF PROGRESSIVE TALK" rally to protest the HARTMANN cancellation will be held this evening at 6:30p CT in MADISON.
