YAHOO INC. has appointed CAROL BARTZ as CEO, the AP reports. BARTZ, 60, previously worked at software maker AUTODESK, INC.
Her hiring ends YAHOO's two-month search to replace co-founder JERRY YANG, who left the job CEO reins when separate merger/acquisition negotiations with MICROSOFT and GOOGLE collapsed. With BARTZ at the helm, tech observers speculate that negotiations to sell buy YAHOO's Internet search operations to MICROSOFT will resume.
MICROSOFT withdrew from negotiations after YANG turned down a $47.5 billion offer to buy YAHOO in its entirety last MAY.
