HALL COMMUNICATIONS WCTK (CAT COUNTRY)/PROVIDENCE morning host TIM LEARY of the 'MORNING SHOWGRAM,' held a post-CHRISTMAS 'toy drive' for less fortunate kids in the area with great success. The 'LAND OF THE MISFIT TOY DRIVE,' brought in almost $25,000 in toys in 3 hours yesterday (01/13), from 6-9a.
“We had to make two to three trips to each location to bring back all of the toys. The toys collected filled a 20-foot storage unit and I was still bringing toys up to our studio at 4:30 this morning. I am completely blown away and astonished at the generosity I saw from the communities across southern NEW ENGLAND yesterday. Another experience I’ve never seen during my years in the industry,” said LEARY.
Trucks, SUV’s, and U-hauls packed with toys lined the station’s parking lot. The Department of Children, Youth, and Family Services’ auditorium was completely full of toys after the CAT COUNTRY team dropped off the toys to the organization.
