The MINORITY MEDIA AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS COUNCIL is unveiling its recommendations for the FCC and new Congress at a Legislative Briefing in WASHINGTON TODAY (1/21).
The MMTC is releasing its new "A Broadband Stimulus Plan To Benefit All Americans" to encourage the buildout of universal broadband access, and is continuing to seek the restoration of the Tax Certificate Policy for broadcast station sales/purchases and its extension to telecommunications properties, as well as pushing for an annual media and telecommunications diversity and "digital divide" census and reforms to the Universal Service Fund. In addition, the MMTC is looking for clarification of the localism rules and move-in restrictions to invalidate the regulations when they "significantly inhibit diversity" and for relaxation of the prohibition of more than 25% foreign ownership of broadcast stations.
