Cincinnati Public Radio Takes Over WMUB

CINCINATI PUBLIC RADIO is taking over operation of noncommercial WMUB/OXFORD, OH from MIAMI UNIVERSITY of OHIO. The school made the arrangement after a budget shortfall left it unable to bear the cost of operating the station. PUBLIC RADIO CAPITAL assisted the parties in negotiations.
"We have come to this decision with deep regret because of our long history with WMUB and the excellent staff there now, but the financial obligation of WMUB can no longer be borne by the university with the economic challenges we face," said university President DAVID HODGE.
The station is airing a special talk show on the change FRIDAY morning at 9a ET (repeated at 7p) and will hold a public information meeting on campus next WEDNESDAY.
