The ST. LOUIS PARK, MN City Council has voted 4-1 to reject NORTHERN LIGHTS BROADCASTING's application to build a new tower for its Top 40/Rhythmic KTTB (B96)/MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL in the city.
The station sought to build a 392 foot tower in the TWIN CITIES suburb at the site of SALEM Talk WWTC-A (AM 1280 THE PATRIOT) and KYCR-A/MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL and change its city of license from GLENCOE to EDINA to improve its signal in the core portions of the market.
Former CLEAR CHANNEL Country KEEY (K102) AE CLAIRE CHRISTISON was a leader of the opposition to the tower; while NORTHERN LIGHTS alleged that CLEAR CHANNEL was behind her participation, she noted that she is a local resident, disclosed her affiliation, was not paid for her position on the issue, and was among those let go in last week's CLEAR CHANNEL cutbacks, appearing at the hearings after her departure from the company and as a private citizen.
