Nader to Limbaugh: Pay To Play
January 30, 2009 at 4:26 PM (PT)
RALPH NADER wants RUSH LIMBAUGH to pony up for the right to speak on the radio. In an open letter to LIMBAUGH issued as a press release, the quadrennial independent candidate for president notes that LIMBAUGH's latest contract with PREMIERE RADIO NETWORKS is worth "at least $38 million a year over the next eight years" and alleges, "You are making this money on the public property of the American people for which you pay no rent. You, RUSH LIMBAUGH, are on welfare."
NADER says that because LIMBAUGH is the "Kingboy of corporatist radio," he should "set a capitalist example for his peers and pay rent to the American people for the very lucrative use of their property" as "voluntary rent."
NADER did not suggest that any other hosts pay for the privilege of radio access.
