CLEAR CHANNEL Talk WTKS (REAL RADIO 104.1)/ORLANDO evening host JASON "BUCKETHEAD" BAILEY is being credited with helping to save the life of a suicidal caller THURSDAY night.
FOX O&O WOFL-TV (FOX 35)/ORLANDO reports that the caller told BUCKETHEAD that he wasn't sure if he wanted to kill himself and didn't know what to do, prompting the host to keep the caller on the line while signaling the screener to call a suicide hotline. While the caller, nicknamed "BILL," told of family problems and said he was in his truck with a case of beer and prescription drugs, BUCKETHEAD elicited clues as to the man's location and contacted police, who found the caller. The caller was taken to a hospital under FLORIDA's Baker Act and was placed under observation.
"It scares the living daylights out of me that not even a listener of mine but a human being could have ended his life," BUCKETHEAD told FOX 35. "It just hasn’t sunk in yet."
