The ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION tracked down IKE NEWKIRK to confirm that the longtime SUNDAY morning "OPEN LINE" public affairs host at WQXI-A/ATLANTA has exited the station after 38 years.
NEWKIRK, who was employed by licensee LINCOLN FINANCIAL MEDIA to provide the public affairs show (most of the week's hours on the station are leased to BIG LEAGUE BROADCASTING for Sports 790 THE ZONE), tells the AJC that he was made "an offer I couldn't refuse" with a generous early retirement package. He exited the station after the JANUARY 4th show.
