EMMIS has settled a lawsuit involving its INDIANAPOLIS Top 40 WNOU (93.1 RADIO NOW), former morning jock BILLY BREEZE (a.k.a. DENNIS GRUBBS) and listener BONNIE JEAN VENTRESS, who had sued the jock and EMMIS for pain and suffering, according to the INDIANAPOLIS STAR.
Following the breakup of their relationship, GRUBBS allegedly gave out VENTERESS' cell phone number on the air, and encouraged listeners to call and harass her, offering a prize for the listener who could harass her the most. According to her suit, VENTERSS claimed that she received dozens of calls, including death threats.
EMMIS INDIANAPOLIS VP/GM TOM SEVERINO confirmed that the suit had been settled, but declined to disclose details. GRUBBS is now doing afternoons for WAYFM MEDIA GROUP Contemporary Christian WAYF (WAY-FM)/WEST PALM BEACH, using the name RANDY HAZE.
