CBS Talk KDKA-A/PITTSBURGH is teaming with DOLLAR ENERGY FUND for a "Warmathon" to raise money to maintain or restore service to needy PITTSBURGH residents who lose power during the winter. The 31-hour broadcast will air WEDNESDAY and THURSDAY (2/12-13) live from the PPG WINTERGARDEN. The event was announced last OCTOBER and has taken on added urgency with the economic downturn.
"The current economic climate and the harsh winter weather are making many of our neighbors throughout the PITTSBURGH area struggle to stay warm," said DOLLAR ENERGY FUND CEO CINDY DATIG. "Many of our elderly and working neighbors struggle to maintain basic utilities. No one should have to face a PITTSBURGH winter without utility service. Our goal is to spread the warmth to more than 1500 families in the PITTSBURGH area."
