Myers To Head Review Of U.K. Local Radio

GMG RADIO CEO JOHN MYERS, who is exiting the company at the end of the month, will head up an independent review of the U.K.'s local radio stations for Communications Minister STEPHEN CARTER's "DIGITAL BRITAIN" review. The GUARDIAN reports that MYERS, who will report directly to CARTER, will review the present local content rules and local radio's role in the digital era. MYERS' report will be due by the end of MARCH.
CARTER issued an interim report last month that supported digital audio broadcasting as radio's "primary distribution network," but fell short of calling for analog stations to completely migrate to DAB before DAB accounts for over 50% of listening (it is presently at 18.3%).
