JOHN BROWN UNIVERSITY Christian AC KLRC/SILOAM SPRINGS, AR invited listeners to show a little love this VALENTINE'S DAY to those who need it most. The campaign, called "WITH LOVE FROM NWA," encouraged listeners to make VALENTINE'S DAY cards for nursing home patients and homebound seniors in the NORTHWEST ARKANSAS area. The goal of 1,000 cards was quickly surpassed by the time collections ended on FEBRUARY 11th. The station collected over 4,000 cards.
"All week we've been touched by stories of teachers inspiring students to make VALENTINES and families who chose to make the most of their time together during the ice storm by participating in this project," said PD/morning co-host MARK MICHAELS. "Each story was woven together to help express love in such a simple and powerful way."
The station partnered with area ATLANTA BREAD COMPANY and PANERA BREAD locations to serve as drop-off sites. LIFE SOURCE INTERNATIONAL provided a list of nursing homes and various resources to develop the project. The cards were distributed across NORTHWEST ARKANSAS on FEBRUARY 12th and 13th. Most of the handmade cards were made by local churches and classrooms.
