CLEAR CHANNEL Talk WLAP-A/LEXINGTON, KY 9a-noon host LELAND CONWAY asked listeners to show their disapproval for the pork-barrel spending in the stimulus bill by sending in bags of pork rinds to be forwarded to Sen. CHARLES SCHUMER (D-NY), who said last week that Americans "don't care" what was in the bill. The result was an avalanche of 1,200 bags of snacks, duly collected and forwarded to SCHUMER.
CONWAY is also protesting LEXINGTON Mayor JIM NEWBERRY's call to "community leaders" to submit their claims to simulus money being doled out to the city, including a $75,000 request for cleaning some histprical plaques in the GRATZ PARK area of downtown LEXINGTON, by cleaning some of the plaques himself with his listener group, the "National Association for Free Pancakes." The first meeting of the N.A.F.F.P., cleaning plaques so $75,000 of taxpayer money isn't used for that purpose, is scheduled for FEBRUARY 24th at 1p.
