WOR Sets Variety Radiothon For 2/26

BUCKLEY Talk WOR-A/NEW YORK will hold its 14th annual radiothon and day of awarness to support VARIETY THE CHILDREN'S CHARITY OF NEW YORK on FEBRUARY 26 8a-6p ET. SIRIUS SATELLITE RADIO Oldies host "COUSIN BRUCIE" MORROW will be back for another year of hosting the event, with help from WOR personalities JOHN GAMBLING, JOAN HAMBURG, DR. JOY BROWNE, STEVE MALZBERG, and JOEY REYNOLDS.
This year's theme is "Solid Gold Memories," featuring interviews with FRANKIE VALLI, NEIL SEDAKA, CHUBBY CHECKER, LESLIE GORE, PAUL ANKA, the FOUR TOPS' DUKE FAKIR, RIGHTEOUS BROTHER BILL MEDLEY, DION, GARY LEWIS, and JOHNNY MAESTRO, among others. Also scheduled to stop by are DANNY AIELLO and FOX O&O WNYW (TV) (FOX 5)/NEW YORK "GOOD DAY NEW YORK" anchor ROSANNA SCOTTO, and NEW YORK Mayor MIKE BLOOMBERG is also expected to show his support.
"VARIETY is about children, and thanks to WOR 710 we are going to be raising awareness and money to reach our mission to improve the lives of children in our local communities," said MORROW. "WOR is a unique radio station in that they are a part of our neighborhood, and they take that very seriously. We will dedicate our 10 hours to the very important issue of helping disadvantaged children. These difficult economic times make it even more important than ever to help take care of something even more valuable than solid gold – our kids."
