An OKLAHOMA company is proposing a 1,500 foot tall broadcast tower -- the world's tallest self-supporting tower -- in CRYSTAL LAKE, IL.
The NORTHWEST HERALD reports that BMB COMMUNICATIONS MANAGEMENT wants to build the tower serving the CHICAGO market on 3.6 acres of MCHENRY COUNTY COLLEGE's campus, for which it is paying $6 million plus an additional $1 million if it sells all five broadcast slots on the tower within the first five years of the deal.
The tower could hold FM and/or TV antennae as well as other communications equipment.
