FM Application Bounced By FCC For Mistake

You have to be careful how you fill out those FCC forms, and PLUS CHARITIES learned that the hard way. The Commission has rejected its petition for reconsideration of the dismissal of its application for a new FM in COGGON, IA.
The PLUS application ticked off the wrong box, designating the coordinates for the proposed station as "east longitude" rather than "west longitude," resulting in the Commission determining that the proposed 60 dBu contour failed to cover over 50% of COGGIN. Although other exhibits with the application showed the correct coordinates, the Commission ruled that what's in the "tech box" on the application is what matters.
The Commission also set aside without comment the applications of SALEM Religion KKLA/LOS ANGELES and MITCHELL MEDIA Classic Rock KMRJ (99.5 THE HEAT)/RANCHO MIRAGE-PALM SPRINGS for modifications and returned the applications to pending status.
