CLEAR CHANNEL has promoted JULIE PILAT to PD for Alternative KYSR (98-7FM)/LOS ANGELES. Previously, she was APD/MD for both (98-7FM) and Top 40/Mainstream sister KIIS FM. She assumes the programming chair previously held by MICHAEL MARTIN, who left at the end of 2008 (NET NEWS, 12/30) to eventually become VP/Programming for CBS RADIO/SAN FRANCISCO.
"JULIE is a great fit for 98-7, CCR/LOS ANGELES Market Pres. GREG ASHLOCK said. "She knows the format. She's respected by everyone in the building and in the industry. She's a problem-solver who likes to dig in and get it done. We all share the same confidence in her abilities and vision for the station. In her short time overseeing the station, 987 has posted impressive gains. Against the core A18-34 demo, 98-7 beat KROQ in the last two weeklies and posted a 4.7 share for the month. Against W18-34, 987 popped a 5 share with KROQ at a 4.5 (JANUARY, full week). Her genuine knowledge of the audience, the online universe and integrated offerings is refreshing as we continue to evolve to meet our listeners' expectations. JULIE has earned the position and we're more than happy to hand over the reins."
"I am ecstatic to accept the PD position at 98-7FM," PILAT said."In the last year, we have built one of the most forward-thinking, hard-working and winning teams I have had the pleasure of working with, and solidified our relationships with artists, managers, promoters and major and local record labels. 98-7 is making history in L.A., and I am thrilled to be a part of that! Working with GREG ASHLOCK, GENE ROMANO, JOHN IVEY and EILEEN WOODBURY at CLEAR CHANNEL LOS ANGELES to program pop and rhythm on the #1 radio station in the market, KIIS FM, at the same time as 98-7FM rises from the streets as a great Rock station is absolutely a dream scenario."
