They have listeners sending (preferably used) teabags to legislators in SACRAMENTO to protest CALIFORNIA's massive tax increase, and now CLEAR CHANNEL Talk KFI-A/LOS ANGELES afternoon provocateurs JOHN AND KEN are suggesting that fans send crayons to the LOS ANGELES TIMES in response to columnist JAMES RAINEY's criticism of the hosts and other critics of the tax increase.
RAINEY's column in WEDNESDAY's paper was accompanied by a headline saying that the show's budget analysis was "written with crayons," prompting JOHN KOBYLT and KEN CHAMPIOU to tell listeners to send Crayolas to RAINEY as a response. "Better do it soon," CHAMPIOU quipped, noting that DENVER's ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS has announced that it will close after FRIDAY's editions. "They (the TIMES) might not be around much longer."
KOBYLT and CHIAMPOU's "Heads On a Stick" campaign to oust Republicans who reversed their no-tax-increase stances to support the huge tax increase package has drawn wide notice in the news media and from Governor ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER, who urged fellow Republicans to ignore the backlash and join Democrats in voting for the measure.
JOHN AND KEN will be holding a tax revolt rally on SATURDAY, MARCH 7 in FULLERTON outdoors at the SLIDEBAR CAFE 3-6p. The rally will also air live on KFI.
