Grand Ole Opry Member Ernie Ashworth Passes

ALL ACCESS sends prayers and condolences to the family of GRAND OLE OPRY member ERNIE ASHWORTH, who passed away today (3/2) of a heart attack at age 80. ASHWORTH had been recovering from a recent triple bypass surgery. Funeral arrangements have not yet been set.
ASHWORTH's biggest hit was the 1963's 'Talk Back Trembling Lips,' which went to #1. He was also a member of the GRAND OLE OPRY and in 1992 was inducted into the ALABAMA MUSIC HALL OF FAME.
A previously announced benefit concert will still take place for ASHWORTH and CANADIAN Country artist RAY GRIFF on APRIL 1st (NET NEWS 2/18). The show will be held at the TEXAS TROUBADOUR THEATRE in NASHVILLE, featuring performances from JEAN SHEPARD, JESSE McREYNOLDS, JIM ED BROWN, DAVID BALL and more. All proceeds will benefit GRIFF, who is recovering from throat cancer, and ASHWORTH's family.
