NAB: Streaming Stations Have 30 Days To Accept New Deal
March 4, 2009 at 3:40 PM (PT)
The NAB has sent an e-mail to radio stations TODAY that details NAB's streaming agreement with SOUNDEXCHANGE, which was first announced on FEBRUARY 16th, 2009. Stations that currently stream have 30 days to elect the negotiated rates (no later than APRIL 2nd, 2009).
The summary of the rates and terms is accessible on the NAB website. The new rate schedule covers the years 2009 through 2015.
The negotiated rates and terms will continue to be available for radio stations that are not currently streaming. In order to opt in, a broadcaster must complete the election form on the SoundExchange Web site within the first 30 days of initial streaming.
Radio stations can also opt not to elect the negotiated rates, and instead continue to rely on the existing COPYRIGHT ROYALTY BOARD (CRB) rates through 2010, which will be re-established for 2011-2015.
