Multi-Platinum And Gold Response To Jacobs' Anti-Royalty Plan

The response to JACOBS MEDIA's proposal to inundate CONGRESS with proof of radio promotional benefit to recording artists -- by sending politicos digital photos of gold and platinum records the labels sent to radio -- has been nothing short of phenomenal. Close to 1,000 gold and platinum records have been digitally delivered to JACOBS MEDIA in just 48 hours.
"We've been overwhelmed by the response," JACOBS MEDIA Pres. FRED JACOBS said. "We've got three staffers working on posting them as fast as possible, but they can't keep up with the flood of gold and platinum."
The "Going For The Gold" campaign, featuring the photographic collection of "thank-yous" from the record industry, illustrates radio’s historic support. The photos will be posted at www.jacobsmedia.com/goingforthegold, and will be delivered to the NAB next week.
"The relationship between radio and the music industry has always been collaborative, and the artists and record companies have consistently shown their gratitude by celebrating their successes in the form of gold and platinum records," JACOBS noted. "It is fundamentally a contradiction for MUSICFIRST to discount radio’s powerful impact on music, artists, and brands."
Radio stations have until the end of this week to email their digital photos to JACOBS MEDIA at email@example.com. "Our staff is going to work all week and through the weekend in order to get every photo we receive posted on the website,"he said. "Many of the biggest and smallest radio companies have sent us gold and platinum pictures. Keep them coming."
