NJ Assemblywoman DAWN MARIE ADDIEGO and Assemblyman SCOTT RUDDER said they will be collecting empty wallets to deliver to Gov. CORZINE’s desk in protest of his insistence on balancing the budget on the backs of property taxpayers.
"For years, the CORZINE administration has been forcing property taxpayers to bear the burden of TRENTON’s spending spree, but after his budget speech this week, middle class taxpayers fear they may be left with nothing but an empty wallet," said ADDIEGO.
"The JERSEY GUYS on MILLENIUM Talk WKXW (NEW JERSEY 101.5) had a great idea, and we want to help lead the charge," said RUDDER. "The empty wallets are symbolic of the plight of NEW JERSEY’s middle class taxpayers."
During WEDNESDAY’s radio show, THE JERSEY GUYS, CASEY BARTHOLOMEW and RAY ROSSI, hatched their "Empty Wallet Campaign." They asked listeners to mail their empty wallets to the governor, with a note inside that reads: "There’s nothing else to give."
