Bar Overseers Recommend Disbarment For WRKO's Finneran

The MASSACHUSETTS Board of Bar Overseers has recommended that ENTERCOM Talk WRKO-A/BOSTON morning host and former state House Speaker TOM FINNERAN be disbarred over his guilty plea to felony charges of false testimony arising from a 2003 lawsuit over redistricting. The board noted that disbarment is the standard penalty for a lawyer convicted of a felony or for obstructing justice, and that FINNERAN's excuses, including health and family problems, do not warrant different treatment.
FINNERAN's license was suspended after he pleaded guilty in JANUARY 2007, and a three-member panel of the Board of Bar Overseers recommended a two year suspension, which FINNERAL appealed to try and get reduced to a one-year suspension. The Office of Bar Counsel also appealed to try and get FINNERAN disbarred. The MASSACHUSETTS Supreme Judicial Court will make a decision based on the Board's recommendation sometime this year.
