Syndicated morning host TOM JOYNER and a variety of other leading minority radio broadcasters cited the negative impact a performance tax would have on minority-owned stations at a congressional staff briefing on CAPITOL HILL today. The panelists discussed how the RIAA-driven royalty bill would destroy diversity in the Urban radio community and put many radio jobs at risk.
The panelists included RADIO ONE Founder/Chairman CATHY HUGHES and Pres./CEO ALFRED LIGGINS, ICBC BROADCAST HOLDINGS Pres./COO CHARLES WARFIELD and SHERDIAN BROADCASTING SVP/CFO SUSAN DAVENPORT AUSTIN. Serving as moderator was MINORITY MEDIA AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS COUNCIL Exec. Dir. DAVID HONIG.
