Frosted Flakes, Cheerios Meet In ESPN Radio 'Breakfast Bracket'

There's the NCAA men's and women's basketball tournament, and the NIT, but ESPN RADIO's COLIN COWHERD has his own tournament going on, "THE HERD'S BREAKFAST BRACKET," pitting cereals in a battle that pitted 32 flavors against each other in an NCAA-style bracket. COWHERD came up with the idea after musing that "everyone loves brackets" and that even a bracket of cereal would be popular. Within a week of that epiphany, more than 170,000 votes have been cast on ESPNRADIO.COM, leading to the brawl for it all between FROSTED FLAKES and CHEERIOS. A winner will be announced on COWHERD's "THE HERD" at 1p MONDAY.
Afternoon host and college basketball analyst DOUG GOTTLIEB analyzed the championship matchup by noting that "FROSTED FLAKES are sweeter and leave better milk behind," but that "CHEERIOS are better finger food and keep the kids occupied on car trips." FROSTED FLAKES won the Sugar bracket and CHEERIOS took the Healthy bracket. FROSTED FLAKES is the top seed and CHEERIOS was the number two seed.
"How you play in milk is key," COWHERD said. "I figured we’d get 75 votes, and now we may get 175,000; who knew?"
Producer DAVID FISCH added, "I’m disappointed CORN FLAKES didn’t even make the field. It’s the classic American cereal. It’s the ST. MARY'S of this year’s tournament!"
