WGIP-A/EXETER, NH, which was recently sold by CLEAR CHANNEL's ALOHA STATION TRUST as part of the spinoff of stations to facilitate approval of the company's privatization, has been flipped from a simulcast of former sister Talk WGIR-A/MANCHESTER, NH to Classic Hits as WXEX-A by new owner ARUBA RADIO HOLDINGS.
New owners STEVE THOMAS and ANDY HARTMANN launched the new format MARCH 16th, and THOMAS told the EXETER NEWS-LETTER, "ANDY and I thought it would be exciting to bring a radio station back to town that is back here that is locally owned and operated. What a breath of fresh air to offer something the EXETER area can benefit from, from non-profit organizations to businesses, where they can go to get their messages."
The station plans coverage of local high school football and other events pending approval of increased night power. "This is the way radio stations were, and they've just gone so far away from that," said THOMAS.
