PEAK BROADCASTING Adult Hits KFJK (105.9 JACK FM)/FRESNO will flip to Talk THURSDAY as KMJ-F, "THE FM KMJ @105-9." The new format, using the KMJ brand established on sister Talk KMJ-A, will feature a separate schedule from the AM side, except for a simulcast of the morning news block. KMJ-A OM SKIP ESSICK will add the same duties for the FM as well. Both stations will stream at a new web platform, KMJNOW.COM.
The initial FM lineup includes CALIFORNIA AG NET with ROY ISOM 5-6a, the simulcast of KMJ's FRESNO MORNING NEWS with RAY APPLETON, BLAKE TAYLOR, CHRISTINE MATHIAS, BILL WOODWARD, and meteorologist DOUG COLLINS 6-9a, PREMIERE's GLENN BECK 9a-noon, syndicated DAVE RAMSEY noon-3p, local CHRIS DANIEL (who hosts 5-7p on the AM side) 3-5p, local "NO STATIC SPORTS" with ALEXAN BALEKIAN 5-7p, TALK RADIO NETWORK's MICHAEL SAVAGE 7-10p, "THE KMJ REPLAY" (highlights from the AM side's daytime shows) 10p-midnight, and the syndicated JOHN AND JEFF overnights. Weekends will include Oldies music.
The 29% growth of KMJ listenership over the past year underscores the appetite for live, local, and committed news, sports, and talk programming
PEAK Pres./CEO TODD LAWLEY said, "The 29% growth of KMJ listenership over the past year underscores the appetite for live, local, and committed news, sports, and talk programming throughout FRESNO and the CENTRAL VALLEY. THE FM KMJ's full-market, crystal-clear signal, coupled with KMJ-AM's powerful 50,000 watts will provide CENTRAL CALIFORNIA's listeners and advertisers with additional and unique, quality programming not available anywhere else."
SVP/Market Manager PATTY HIXSON said, "The economy, including housing, retail, farming, and business to business is just too important to cover on just one radio station in a market as large and diverse as FRESNO. The FM KMJ will offer listeners more local dialogue, more diversity of thought and more entertaining talk opinions by some of the best professionals in the business. The same commitments to our community offered on market leading KMJ AM 580, will now extend to The FM KMJ @105-9 and KMJ NOW.COM."
ESSICK added, "As is the case with KMJ AM 580, The FM KMJ is uniquely designed to reflect the lifestyle and needs of listeners and advertisers around CENTRAL CALIFORNIA. The station will feature a mix of popular national names along with familiar local voices and new, innovative local programming. The FM KMJ @ 105-9 will serve all of THE VALLEY with credible news, dependable traffic, accurate weather, sports and local information the area has come to expect from KMJ. In addition, we have created unique, entertaining radio that has never been available in FRESNO on FM or AM."
