NPR Among '08 Peabody Winners

Radio winners of 2008 PEABODY AWARDS from the UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA's GRADY COLLEGE OF JOURNALISM AND MASS COMMUNICATION include:
CHICAGO PUBLIC RADIO (WBEZ/CHICAGO) and NATIONAL PUBLIC RADIO, "THIS AMERICAN LIFE: THE GIANT POOL OF MONEY"
NATIONAL PUBLIC RADIO, "CHINA: THE EARTHQUAKE OF CHENGDU"
NATIONAL PUBLIC RADIO, "ALL THINGS CONSIDERED: 36 YEARS IN SOLITARY: MURDER, DEATH AND JUSTICE IN ANGOLA"
Also honored among 36 winners were NBC's "SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE," ABC's "LOST," HBO's "ENTOURAGE" and "JOHN ADAMS," AMC's "BREAKING BAD," YOUTUBE, and THE ONION's online video series "ONION NEWS NETWORK."
"The works recognized by the PEABODY Board this year not only reflect great diversity of content and genre, but also true technical innovation and the varied roles of new distribution systems," said PEABODY Director HORACE NEWCOMB. "The list of winners this year clearly indicates a changing media environment that will continue to require judgment and evaluation through the PEABODY AWARDS process."
