Veteran CHICAGO radio personality GARRY MEIER has been named to host the 1-4p weekday slot on TRIBUNE Talk WGN-A/CHICAGO, starting FRIDAY (4/3). MEIER, the former partner of STEVE DAHL at WLUP, WLS-A, and WLS-F and ROE CONN at WLS, most recently hosted solo at the old CBS RADIO Talk WCKG before that station flipped to AC as WCFS (FRESH 105.9). The WGN slot was left vacant when JOHN WILLIAMS moved to mornings in DECEMBER.
"We would have announced this yesterday, but … APRIL FOOL'S DAY? No one would have believed it. We're delighted GARRY has agreed to bring his game-changing talent to WGN Radio," said PD KEVIN METHENY.
"GARRY MEIER is a household name in CHICAGO and has already brought many new listeners to WGN," said TOM LANGMYER, WGN VP/GM, referring to MEIER's fill-in stints at the station and feature reporting for sister WGN-TV. "He's contemporary, smart, hip and fun. He's a great fit for today's new Voice of CHICAGO!"
"To have honed my broadcasting skills over the years listening to RON SANTO, to work on the same station as him is pure heaven. C'mon!" said MEIER.
