EVANGEL MINISTRIES Christian AC WEMI/APPLETONE-OSHKOSH, WI and WEMY/GREEN BAY recently held the 17TH ANNUAL HELP FOR THE HOMELESS campaign. The campaign filled the shelves of 38 area shelters and programs with more than $141,000 worth of personal hygiene and cleaning products. For some shelters/programs a year's worth of supplies was donated.
Four hundred area businesses, schools, churches and crisis agencies in FOX CITIES, GREEN BAY, OSHKOSH, FOND DU LAC and MANITOWOC nearly doubled the amount of last year's donations. All donations remain in the communities where they are given.
"I was absolutely blown away when I realized that all of those boxes were destined for BLANDINE HOUSE. Never in my wildest dreams. You obviously realize how difficult it is these days trying to make the budget numbers work. Each box of product that we unloaded yesterday translates into a few more hours of sobriety for someone, a little extra hope for a family who really needs it, or the simple realization that somehow we're all in this together," said BLANDINE HOUSE Exec. Dir. JIM COLWIN.
The campaign was sponsored by WEMI and WEMY with help from FESTIVAL FOODS, AFFINITY HEALTH SYSTEM, THRIVENT FINANCIAL FOR LUTHERANS and WFRV-TV.
