Law Enforcement In 3 States Investigate KISS Murder Call
April 10, 2009 at 6:57 AM (PT)
As ALL ACCESS first reported YESTERDAY (NET NEWS 4/9), a caller said he witnessed a murder and called in the confession to CLEAR CHANNEL RADIO's syndicated morning duo JOHNJAY & RICH Show. Every WEDNESDAY the duo host a bit called "Confession WEDNESDAY," and on APRIL 8th, they received a call from a man who claimed that as a teenager in CINCINNATI, he was a peripheral player in a cold-blooded killing.
The call has caused law-enforcement agencies in ARIZONA, OHIO and KENTUCKY to begin checking their cold case files, reports TODAY's ARIZONA REPUBLIC, which writes "CINCINNATI police said they don't have an outstanding case fitting the description of what the man said. The FBI said it was not investigating, despite at least one CINCINNATI report that it was."
KISS didn't return the newspaper's call for comment. "Neither did a police agency in KENTUCKY where the man said the attack happened," wrote THE REPUBLIC, which pointed out that after telling his "sick" tale, the caller named CARL claimed concert tickets as his prize in the confession segmen. He asked for tickets to see KELLY CLARKSON.
JOHNJAY did respond to an e-mail from ALL ACCESS, writing that this was a "legit call! Swear to God! FBI called this morning and so far said this is NOT a hoax ... stay tuned."
