RTN Christian AC WJIS (THE JOY FM)/SARASOTA, FL morning show “THE MORNING CRUISE WITH DAVE, BILL AND CARMEN” recently presented ESSENTIAL RECORDS band JARS OF CLAY with a $1,000 check for the band’s BLOOD:WATER MISSION. The donation came from the morning show’s participation in “40 DAYS OF WATER,” a grass-roots campaign to divert money normally spent on beverages into a donation pool.
DAVE CRUSE, host of “THE MORNING CRUISE,” was skeptical when co-host BROWN suggested the trio defer coffee, their favorite morning beverage, for 40 days. “It sounded like a fad, and I’m not much for fads,” he said. Having come to day 39, the day JARS OF CLAY visited, CRUSE refused to break the fast a day early. “I’ll never go 40 days without coffee again, as long as I live. I might as well finish the race.” Co-hosts BROWN and MARTIN were equally glad to resume their beverages of choice: “Coffee for CARMEN, tea for me,” he said.
“40 DAYS OF WATER” ran concurrently with LENT and helps BLOOD:WATER MISSION toward its purpose to partner with groups and individuals to empower AFRICANS to build healthier communities through sustainable clean blood and clean water solutions, while developing social responsibility in the U.S. through initiatives that provoke personal engagement and ownership.
