FISHER COMMUNICATIONS websites will now feature a "hyper-local" search function based on the Search and Discovery for Media service by DATASPHERE. The new search function includes search across real-time video, audio and text articles, allowing further drilling down to into specific local areas and categories. The company's KOMONEWS.COM site, home for News KOMO-A and ABC affiliate KOMO-TV/SEATTLE, is the first to add the search function, with 13 additional sites shortly to add the service.
"This is a tremendous step forward in our objective to build a world class online experience to complement our position as one of the region's leading broadcasters," said FISHER SVP Operations ROB DUNLOP. "DATASPHERE's Search and Discovery service allows us to effectively expose our full catalog of content and attract the attention of visitors interested in very targeted local information. This in turn provides the perfect opportunity for our advertisers to deliver messages that are relevant and effective in driving new business."
"FISHER COMMUNICATIONS and DATASPHERE share a common vision -- to make investments in quality content generate an appropriate level of return," said DATASPHERE CEO SATBIR KHANUJA. "By making it easy for visitors to find what they are looking for, and leading them toward other topics likely to be of interest, we can create an environment where content is able to attract more targeted and valuable traffic."
